Responsive Classroom creates the ideal conditions for students to do their best learning. At the same time, Fly Five teaches the specific, developmentally appropriate SEL skills for success in and beyond the classroom.
Responsive Classroom is a student-centered approach to teaching and discipline that integrates academic and social-emotional learning throughout the school day. Responsive Classroom professional development helps K–8 educators learn effective strategies to create safe, joyful, and engaging school communities.
Fly Five is a K–8 standards-based SEL curriculum for explicitly teaching the developmentally appropriate social, emotional, and behavioral skills that lead to success in and out of the classroom. Fly Five includes easy-to-use lessons, embedded professional development, unique assessment tools, and more.
Responsive Classroom and Fly Five Share the Same Core Belief: For students to be academically, socially, and behaviorally successful in and out of school, they need to learn a set of social and emotional competencies: cooperation, assertiveness, responsibility, empathy, and self-control (C.A.R.E.S.).
Center for Responsive Schools (CRS) is a nonprofit educational development organization committed to influencing and inspiring a world-class education for every student in every school daily.
